LONESOME VALLEYS @ Tin Can Ale House

This past Tuesday the Tin Can Ale House hosted the opening exhibition of Tessa Cady's Lonesome Valleys. The show features several large panoramic paintings, most appearing mysterious, existing somewhere between our dreams and reality, and brimming with colorful surrealistic undertones.
The show will be up for the rest of September so be sure to check it out!

In addition to the fabulous artwork, Dood's Foods held their first eating contest as 101 KGB's Best Burger in San Diego! Congratulations again you guys!

Immediately after the eating contest, Aalti Veri (Shannon of Primitive Noyes) graced us with her cool musical stylings (not a bad way to recover from an eating contest).

Glen throwing down some jams.

"Wanna be in an eating contest?"
"Meh! Okay."

I think I've found a new hobby (see: Purple Rain).

Before the eating contest: Glen, Shoko and Paul appear in good spirits.

The Dood.

Yikes.

After.

Shoko seems to be the only one who made it our alive.

Aalti Veri.

All in all, really great night spent with great friends.

And the first Tuesday of next month (October 2nd) we will be putting on a Halloween-themed group show, look forward to seeing you there.

Balboa Park Botanical Garden

Robert has gone back to Portland for a little while, so for his last weekend in San Diego he wanted to see the Balboa Park Botanical Garden. The beautiful 1915-built lily pond and structure is home to more than 2000 plants including ferns, palms, orchids, and cycads. Some of the unusual plants were really awesome, but my favorite was the chocolate mint. So good!
